Quick Trip To Richmond, VA

I was very fortunate to have a week and a half off before I started my new job. I had hoped it would work out that way so that I’d be able to take a quick trip to Richmond to visit my sister, brother in law, and nephews (it was on my 30×30 goals list too!). My sis and I talk almost every week on the phone but I hadn’t see them all in just about a year – John and I went to Richmond when the baby was born last July. The second I got the start date for my job I book a flight to visit them from July 23–25.

My plane was off super early that Monday morning. I spent the quick hour and a half flight photo editing on my iPad (pictures for this post).

The trip itself was pretty unstructured, it has to be that way with three boys under the age of 8. We did a lot of coloring and played a ton of board games.

I got to spend a lot of time with my youngest nephew, Matthew, who just turned 1.

Tony is 8, Josh is 5, and Matt is 1. They are great kids and very loving brothers.

It’s so much fun to spend time with them, watch them grow up, and see their developing personalities. Tony is such a first born; he’s observant, clever, respectful, a little fastidious, independent, a great helper, and has a huge heart. Josh is a little wild, pushes limits, and is a wicked instigator but he’s very loving, silly, loves to snuggle, and is a fast learner. Matt is such a good baby, he’s easy going, funny, loves to play, isn’t phased by his brothers at all, and just generally has a happy disposition.

On my last day in Richmond my sis and I loaded up the car and took the kids to a local water park.

It was a gorgeous day and everyone had a blast.

We spent a good 2 hours there playing and swimming. The kids were perfect and had so much fun.

Three very fast days later, I was back on a plane to Boston. The flight was quick, I edited more photos (ones for this post), and listened to tunes.

Saying goodbye to my sis and the kids is so tough every time especially since we see each other so infrequently. Distance makes the heart grow fonder though. I can’t wait to go back!
